2021 was extremely dynamic and rewarding year for Kelvin Health. The company has made important advancement in developing our AI-based platform for non-invasive screening, monitoring and early diagnostics that helps save lives for breast cancer patients and limbs of PAD & CLI patients via mobile thermography.
The year started with a new partnership. Kelvin Health was awarded support from America for Bulgaria’s “Science with a Future” grant scheme as part of “The Next 10” program. The grant was utilized to support our efforts to compare the abilities of our newly proposed self-screening technique with what’s considered as standard methodology (mammography) for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
In March we applied for Novartis Oncology’s Global Challenge “Breaking Barriers -Healthcare Systems Support” and were selected as one of the six global winners among participants from 41 countries. This was the official start of our collaboration with Novartis Oncology and MORE-Darzalas foundation to bring preventive care closer to the patients.
Just two months later, our group of partners was joined by University Medical Center Maribor, Slovenia and First Gynaecological Hospital St. Sofia, Bulgaria. Together we established standards to streamline the data collection process in a way that enables us to train an AI model for efficient breast cancer screening and monitoring.
In the middle of October Kelvin Health took part in the National Oncology Conference of Foundation MORE-Darzalas 2021. Trends, policies, innovative therapies and digital solutions in clinical oncology were discussed during the event. In the second discussion session about the European Beating Cancer Plan and its implications on efficiency and digitalization, our CEO Georgi Kadrev presented Kelvin Health’s research towards A.I. oriented assistive digital tool for screening and monitoring of early stage breast cancer.
In November we won the finals of BIOME Summit Innovation Challenge Montreal’21! The prestigious jury selected Kelvin Health as the most innovative project for cardiovascular care in remote regions.
At the end of the same month our CEO was part of The Bulgarian delegation at the innovation summit IMPROVATE Jerusalen’21 along with Milena Stoycheva, the CEO of Digital Health and Innovation Cluster Bulgaria, Prof. Ivo Petrov, who is one of the most renowned cardiovascular surgeons in the region, and President Rosen Plevneliev.
Our Christmas present was joining HealthCareLab as one of the 9 startups selected to collaborate with Roche and EIT Health in a 4-month long program run by CIVITTA in early 2022! Out of 202 healthcare startups from 31 countries who applied, and the 19 who were then shortlisted to participate in a full day selection bootcamp, Kelvin Health is one of the 3 screening and early diagnostics innovators selected to co-create opportunities for better healthcare.
