Last week, we created a poll about the top factors for living a healthy lifestyle. As we expected, sport and nutrition was the most preferred choice for everyone. But why this is essential for maintaining good health condition?
Let’s start from further away. Different studies show the most common reason for deaths worldwide is cardiovascular diseases. Only in the USA alone are the statistics terrific. For 2019, approximately every 40 seconds someone will have a myocardial infarction. What’s more, in the same year someone died of a stroke every 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Specialists claim that these figures have risen even more because of the pandemic. And do you know what? WHO reports that among the most behavioral risk factors of heart attack and stroke are unhealthy diet and physical inactivity.
It turns out that these statistics could be turned over by simply making changes to our everyday lives. By incorporating physical activity and the right nutrition into your life, you could improve your health significantly. This is all supported by data. For example:
- Figures from the Nurses ‘ Health Study (1984-2014) showed that a daily intake of 5 servings of fruit and vegetables was associated with 13% lower total mortality and 12% lower CVD mortality.
- An umbrella review of 24 systematic reviews of adults (<60 years of age) concluded that those who are physically active are at reduced risk of CVD mortality (25%-40% risk reduction)
And these are just a few of all the proofs that nutrition and daily activity are extremely important/ The choices we made in our everyday routine define our future. And the earlier we start - the better.
Remember, prevention is the best defense, so make sure to take care of your body properly, before it is too late!
